For the antenna, we got a 2' long piece of carbon fiber tube (used to build RC aircraft) at our local hobby shop and cut it to fit length-wise. It fits snug over the wire, stabalizes it so it doesn't bend, and makes it look perfectly straight. Our hobby shop had two sizes and I can't remember which one we used (I think we used the first one): 1) .157 ('O'uter 'D'imension)/.098 ('I'nner 'D'imension) -or- 2) .125 (OD)/.060 (ID) _________________ 'General' Christy Giles, IGC Armorer

I might need me some of that. My poor antenna has been through a lot in the last 3 and a half years
I just realized I’ve been in the Legion 4 years, I’m one of the old guys now _________________ Imperial Inner Circle

Went to my local hobby store and they don't stock those rods.
There is an armor party this Saturday. Perhaps we can come up with something there. |

Ive not got a clue what mine is made from. Its brass with a silver core and stupidly hard. It came with my SDS helmet and has to be cut to prefered size and it took us about half an hour to get through it Someone suggested it could be welding rod, that may be worth a try. _________________

I used a hollow aluminum tube I bought at a hobby store. Light and fairly strong. _________________ Moff Drew

I went to a fav. electronics store of mine in Kenosha today. They have every sort of junk you can imagine. It's like a cross between a flea market for electronics and new stuff too.
Anyway, looking around I found a barrel full of bent up antenna. Perfect, I took my pick of the litter and for $2. I have my antenna.
Then drove to the armor party.
We used Novus to polish up the helmet which made it shine like a new bowling ball.
Hot melt glued in some foam to cradle my head and hold it on my head. Works great, I can bend over and pick stuff up and it hangs on very nicely.
Cut my new springy antenna to length and hot melt glued it in.
Cut my cog in half and applied it with some soapy water.
Got suited up and took these pics. Sorry there is all kinds of armor party pics in the folder but it was a good party so enjoy. I'm emailing pic.s to my GML tonight too. I'll be official soon.

I didn't really do a lot. MIG 's helmet was a great deal.
One of the other guys at the party had another Vader Revealed bucket kit.
It was something he said he had purchased a year ago.
It was plain white plastic styrene.
Mine is black ABS and with a little elbow grease polished up nice.
I'm so happy with it I'm walking on air.
He isn't so happy with his kit after seeing what I picked up.
Do you want a build from zero to now?
